Drivers operating along the Choba–Abonnema route have raised concerns over the worsening condition of a section of the Degema axis of the road, describing it as a major threat to their daily operations.
They lamented that the bad portion has led to frequent accidents, damage to vehicles, and prolonged delays, resulting in the loss of valuable man-hours. The drivers are urging the Rivers State Government to intervene urgently and ensure that the contractor handling the project accelerates work on the affected section.
An official of the Road Transport Workers, Ib Bobmauel, told our correspondent that the Degema axis is fast becoming a death trap for motorists and commuters.
He appealed to Governor Siminalayi Fubara to personally visit the area and take immediate action to avert further loss of lives and property.
