The Federal Government says it is committed to ensuring the speedy trial of kidnappers, bandits and terror suspects whose activities continue to endanger the lives of Nigerians nationwide.
Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, said accelerating the judicial process is now a major priority, arguing that timely prosecution will help curb the rising wave of violent crime. He explained that the government does not intend to rely solely on prolonged detention or military operations to address insecurity.
Fagbemi stated this on Monday at the opening of the 2025/2026 legal year of the Court of Appeal in Abuja. He noted that the renewed emphasis on fast justice applies to suspects involved in mass killings, kidnapping for ransom, extremist recruitment and terror financing. 
According to him, the government is adopting both military and non-military approaches in the fight against terrorism, adding that swift and efficient justice delivery remains a critical part of the overall national security strategy.
