Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has confirmed that he will be defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor made the disclosure during a stakeholder meeting at the Government House on Tuesday, stating that the move is in the best interest of the people of Rivers State. He added that he has received the approval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to proceed with the decision.
Fubara’s defection had been widely anticipated, following a series of meetings with the President and the recent defection of 17 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to the APC. The governor’s closed-door meeting with President Tinubu on Monday in Abuja is believed to have paved the way for today’s announcement.
