The National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Rivers State chapter, has suspended its 7-day warning strike, which began yesterday, Tuesday, over the non-payment of salaries of some workers.
The President of NULGE in the state, Clifford Paul, announced the suspension after a closed-door meeting with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
The meeting, which was also attended by the Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, and the Chairman of the Rivers State Local Government Service Commission, Israel Amadi, was described as “very fruitful.” 
Dr. Lloyd expressed gratitude to the governor for initiating the dialogue that led to the suspension of the strike, while Mr. Amadi noted that the deliberations had paved the way for resolving the grievances of the affected workers.
The warning strike had been declared by NULGE on Monday as a protest against what it described as the refusal of the Emohua Council Chairman to pay certain staff who had been reinstated by Governor Fubara.
