The Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) says it will soon recruit sanitation marshals to arrest individuals and businesses violating environmental laws across the state.
The Chairman of the Agency, Dr. Samuel Nwanosike, disclosed this while speaking with our correspondent. He explained that the initiative aims to strengthen enforcement and ensure a cleaner environment in Rivers State.
Dr. Nwanosike urged residents and business owners to properly dispose of their waste in designated receptacles, adding that more waste bins would soon be provided in strategic locations.
He also reminded the public that the ban on dumping refuse on road medians remains in effect, warning that defaulters would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
