FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, APC governorship candidate Kingsley Chinda, and their supporters have met with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and members of his political camp in Port Harcourt, in a fresh effort to strengthen reconciliation between the two sides.
The meeting was held behind closed doors on Tuesday at the Governor’s residence and lasted for about four hours.
Wike and Chinda arrived with their supporters at around 4:00 p.m. and joined Governor Fubara and members of his political camp for the discussions.
The meeting marked the first known occasion on which Governor Fubara hosted or personally participated in a reconciliation meeting involving members of his political camp.
The discussions ended at about 8:00 p.m., but neither side addressed journalists or disclosed details of what was discussed.
The meeting is seen as another step towards resolving the political differences between the two camps and strengthening political cooperation in Rivers State.
