Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, is scheduled to present the state’s 2026 Appropriation Bill to the Rivers State House of Assembly today.
The budget presentation follows the Assembly’s approval of the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) submitted by the governor two weeks ago.
According to the approved framework, the state is projecting a budget of ₦1.84 trillion for the 2026 fiscal year. Of the total estimate, more than ₦400 billion has been earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while over ₦1.4 trillion is allocated for capital projects aimed at driving infrastructure and economic development. 
During the consideration of the MTEF, Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, commended the executive arm for preparing a medium-term financial framework to guide the state’s development over the next three years.
However, the Speaker raised concerns about the revenue projections contained in the document, describing them as conservative. He noted that the estimates do not adequately reflect the state’s current revenue potential, particularly in light of prevailing international crude oil prices.
