The Senator representing Rivers West, Ipalibo Banigo Harry, has publicly challenged her disqualification from the All Progressives Congress senatorial primaries, describing the decision as unjust.
Speaking to journalists in her ward in Obuama, Harry’s Town, Degema Local Government Area, the lawmaker insisted that her status as a serving senator should have qualified her for clearance in the screening process.
She expressed concern over what she described as the marginalisation of experienced female politicians, noting that political parties should be encouraging greater inclusion of women rather than excluding them from key contests.
Banigo-Harry also appealed to the All Progressives Congress at the national level to review her case and intervene where necessary.
While urging her supporters to remain calm, she maintained that due process must be followed to ensure fairness and credibility in the party’s internal processes.
