NSCDC Tactical Teams Deployed To Secure Easter Celebration In Rivers State

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Rivers State Command, has deployed tactical teams and specialised units to key locations across the state as part of efforts to ensure a safe and peaceful 2026 Easter celebration.

The deployment, approved by the State Commandant, Dr. Joachin Okafor, is focused on identified flashpoints and vulnerable areas to prevent the sabotage of critical national assets and protect lives and property before, during, and after the festive period.

In a directive issued from the Commandant’s office, Area Commanders, 23 Divisional Officers, Tactical Units, and Beat Commanders have been mandated to intensify patrols and strengthen surveillance operations across the state.

The operation covers strategic locations such as recreational centres, churches and other worship venues, markets, motor parks, major road intersections, and other high-risk areas.

Dr. Okafor also charged officers and men of the Corps to remain professional in their conduct while engaging members of the public, warning that any act of misconduct will be met with strict disciplinary action. He further stressed the importance of continued collaboration with other security agencies to enhance operational effectiveness.

Reassuring residents, the Commandant reiterated the Corps’ commitment to safeguarding critical infrastructure and maintaining public safety. He warned criminals and vandals to stay away from illegal activities, noting that operatives are on high alert.

While congratulating Christians on the Easter celebration, he urged residents to remain law-abiding and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest security agency.
