Former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, has rejected the outcome of the African Democratic Congress presidential primaries, citing widespread voter disenfranchisement.
Amaechi stated that he would only accept the results if the process was conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner. He alleged that nearly 80 per cent of party members were prevented from voting, raising serious concerns about the credibility of the exercise.
He further accused the party of engaging in electoral malpractices such as vote buying and result manipulation—practices it had previously criticized in the ruling All Progressives Congress and the Independent National Electoral Commission. 
According to Amaechi, such actions undermine the ADC’s promise to provide Nigerians with a credible platform that promotes justice, inclusion, and good governance. His rejection came just hours after another aspirant, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, withdrew from the race over alleged irregularities in the process.
