A significant breakthrough has been recorded in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria’s North-East, as joint military operations involving Nigerian troops and the United States Africa Command have reportedly dealt a heavy blow to insurgent groups.
The Director of Defence Information, Samaila Uba, disclosed that the coordinated efforts led to the elimination of several high-ranking terrorist leaders, along with over 200 insurgents in the region.
Speaking during an online discussion on Tuesday, Uba noted that the collaboration has strengthened intelligence gathering, enabling security forces to better track and target terrorist activities. He added that the operations successfully dismantled key insurgent infrastructure, including hideouts, supply routes, and operational bases.
According to him, the partnership has also enhanced surveillance capabilities, allowing for improved monitoring of terrorist movements and more precise military action against insurgents across the North-East.
