Nigeria’s sprint hurdling queen, Tobi Amusan, delivered another commanding performance to clinch gold at the African Championships, reaffirming her dominance on the continent.
The world record holder led the race from start to finish, securing her third African Championships title and adding yet another milestone to her already impressive medal collection. Her victory further cements her status as one of Africa’s most decorated track athletes.
Adaobi Tabugbo also contributed to Team Nigeria’s strong outing, claiming the bronze medal in the same event and boosting the country’s overall performance in the early stages of the competition. 
In a symbolic moment, the gold medal was presented to Amusan by Sebastian Coe, underscoring the global recognition of her achievements.
Speaking ahead of the race, Amusan offered words of encouragement to rising athletes, urging them to stay confident in their dreams despite doubts or criticism.
“Don’t let anyone talk fear into your dreams,” she said.
Reflecting on her journey, she noted that early skepticism about the potential of African hurdlers only fueled her determination, a mindset that ultimately led her to become a world record holder.
