The Rivers State Police Command has uncovered what appears to be a coordinated network of suspected cult activity following a pre-dawn operation in Eleme Local Government Area.
According to police spokesperson Blessing Agabe, operatives from the Eleme Division acted on intelligence to raid a forest location between Alode and Onne, where a large group of young men had assembled under suspicious circumstances. While more than a hundred individuals were reportedly present, several fled upon sighting the police, leaving behind evidence that suggests the gathering may have been linked to an initiation rite.
Security personnel, however, succeeded in apprehending over a dozen suspects believed to be university students. Items recovered at the scene—including a vehicle and materials linked to cult groups—are now being analyzed as part of an ongoing probe. 
Authorities say the operation is part of a broader effort to clamp down on cultism and related violence in the area, with investigations expected to expand to identify organizers and possible sponsors. The incident has also renewed concerns about the persistence of clandestine groups operating around host communities and the need for sustained surveillance.
